Web Survey Bibliography
In den letzten Jahren hat die Online-Befragung als Forschungsmethode deutlich an Beliebtheit und an Stellenwert gewonnen. Bereits heute sind rund ein Drittel aller weltweit durchgeführten Umfragen Online-Befragungen. Es hat nicht zuletzt mit den offenkundigen Vorteilen dieses Erhebungsmodus zu tun, dass vor allem Unternehmen und private Forschungsinstitute, aber auch Universitäten immer stärker von Online-Befragungen Gebrauch machen. Das Portfolio anEinsatzmöglichkeiten ist im Vergleich zu anderen Modi deutlich eingeschränkt. Dazu tragen vor allem Repräsentativitätsprobleme bei. Derartige Probleme spielen bei bestimmten Populationen, wie sie in der Sozialforschung regelmäßig untersucht werden, praktisch keine Rolle. Viele Fragestellungen beziehen sich auf Personengruppen, die in der Regel online-erfahren und -zugänglich sind, wie z.B. politische und andere Eliten, Journalisten, Public Relations-Experten und Öffentlichkeitsarbeiter, Medienmanager oder auch Wissenschaftler. Für diese Populationen scheinen Online-Befragungen geradezu prädestiniert. Vor diesem Hintergrund gibt der geplante Sammelband einen Überblick über den aktuellen Stand der Online-Umfrageforschung als Instrument im Methodeninventar der Sozialwissenschaft. Er stellt dabei zwei Aspekte in den Mittelpunkt, die auch die Gliederung des Buches vorgeben: erstens die Methodologie der Online-Befragung bzw. des Online-Befragungsexperiments und zweitens die forschungspraktische Anwendung. Der Band enthält daher einerseits Beiträge, die sich generell mit methodischen Fragen (z.B. Stichprobenziehung, Fragebogenkonstruktion, Online-Implementation, Experimentaldesigns, Kontakt-Strategien) beschäftigen und damit die Möglichkeiten und Grenzen des Instruments ausloten. Andererseits enthält er Fallbeispiele, die das Design und die Ergebnisse von Online-Befragungen in für diese Methode besonders geeigneten Populationen vorstellen.
